One Proud Dad!

I haven't posted anything since Sunday mostly because I haven't been working out. Today was my first day back in the box since Wed. (that was an active recovery day). Last weekend was so intense and I went balls to the walls for six days in a row, my body definitely let me know about it. I was so sore on Monday and Tuesday to where I had to go and get a massage on Wed. morning. That freaking was an hour and a half of pain that hurt so good. I've got to start working one or two of those in a month along with an adjustment.

Anyhow I'll do another post later tonight on Outlaw and crossfit. I want to talk about my kiddos in this post.

The past few weeks my oldest Son Gavin has been staying with us, and I've been taking him to his strength and conditioning summer program for his middle school. Every morning he's been waking me up around 6:00 to 6:30am saying get up Dad I can't be late. I've never seen him excited about anything like this before, except maybe Christmas morning. He'd tell me every morning when I picked him up what they worked on, and what he was lifting weight wise etc... and he'd show me his muscles. Don't know where he got that from, HA! I've even had a chance to spend a few nights with him at the box working on his technique and form with his power cleans and squats. Example video below. One thing I've always preached to Gavin since he started sports was hard work pays off (even in the class room and when it comes to hitting the books). I've always told him that there might be kids more talented or bigger, faster, stronger, but don't ever let that be a reason for him to not out works or our hustle them. I'm so proud of him (I don’t know if he'll ever really know how much) but I try to tell him and show him in every way I can. I do know I can get better at this, and making sure I'm more positive than I am negative, but I promise I'll be his biggest fan sitting up in the stands watching him play sports for his middle school this upcoming school year. Damn he's already in middle school, I'm getting old!

Kylee has also followed in the family tradition of sports and athletics. A few Friday's ago she started gymnastics out in Frisco at Eagle Gymnastics. We've been debating on putting her into soccer, but she hasn't really showed an interest in it too much at this point. That and she just doesn't listen to well especially when I'm trying to get her to do stuff, or show her something with the soccer ball. I know part of that is just her being a three year old, but the other part was me just not having the best of patience. Yes it's true I'm not very patient, hard to believe I know for those of you who know me. HA! Anyhow back to gymnastics. I had my Wife take her to her first class a few Friday's ago, and before she even went when we told her about it she was so excited. I thought at first it might just be because she was going to get to go with some friends and see Ryker and Ari (Chad and Amy's kiddos). Of course during her first class I'm blowing my Wife Vanessa up on text asking for the play by play on how she's doing. When she wasn’t answering I was texting Gavin. She did great her first day and really enjoyed it. I was so nervous because I wanted her to do good, have fun and enjoy it, but really didn't know how she was going to do on the listening part. She went back for her second day today, and was up around 7:00 this morning in such a good mood and excited about going. I didn't blow my Wife up too much just a few texts and one call, but she did awesome again today even better than the first day, and listened to her Coaches. My Wife said she's never seen her so excited and happy about something like this. I'm so very proud of Kylee and so excited that she's excited about gymnastics. I was worried there for a while it was going to be all princess dolls, shoes, and purses. I know I'm terrible! Pics below of Kylee in action.

COMING SOON!!!

I can't tell you enough how amazed I am by my little guy above. After everything he's been through since the beginning of the year, he's recovered and ahead of schedule on so many levels. For those that don't know Juan Jr was diagnosed with a rare liver disease at the beginning of the year and had a major surgery. You can read more about it here http://www.twofatguysonamission.com/2012/01/be-inspired.html . The courage and strength he has shown through it all gives me motivation every day to take my ass into the box to work out and stick to my mission. Every day, every week, and every month he simply amazes us. From holding his own bottle, sitting up, to crawling, standing, and now trying to walk. All ahead of schedule! He's an athlete in the making, and has strength and will power that can't be taught or coached. You either have it or you don't which is why I had to get him the Beast Mode outfit while I was at the CrossFit Games a few weeks ago.

As you can see I'm one proud Dad, and blessed to have these kiddos in my life. All I can say is thank goodness they all got their looks from their Mom's!
